What the Tip Result Includes
The calculator first multiplies the entered bill by the percentage expressed as a decimal. It rounds that tip to two decimal places, adds it to the original bill, and rounds the total to two decimals. For a group, the rounded tip and rounded total are each divided equally and rounded to cents. Because a cent cannot always be divided evenly, collecting the displayed per-person amount from everyone can differ from the exact total by a few cents.
